Assessment

Members of the East Channel Association commissioned a Regional Environmental Assessment (REA) because they recognised the need to assess the potential combined and cumulative impacts of their proposals. The REA was published early in 2003 and has been fundamental in guiding the design of an extraction management and environmental monitoring programme. It also stressed the need for close liaison with fishing and navigation organisations.
